I am a teacher of and textile artist who 10 years ago sought an improved work/life balance.
My links with Australia have enabled me to provided something of a unique and individual'finishing touch' to my embroidered pictures. The frames I use are of reclaimed timbers from the Victoria region... mountain ash and red gum - timbers which are weathered and worn, oozing character and complementing the natural look I aspire to create through my work. There are times when I set aside the embroideries to work with acrylics. You will find on this site canvases which have been inspired by rural France, the fabulous vivid themes of Clarice Cliff in the 30's and the herbaceous borders which characterise the English Garden. There are actual works shown on this site available for sale and others which I have exhibited & sold. My range of pictures grows continually. The aim of this site is to provide something of a shop window , giving you an idea of some of the colours and themes and possibilities available. In addition you can purchase 'mini originals' in the form of embroidered greetings cards which can be kept and framed! If you wish to purchase cards, please use the Order Form provided. Each and every piece of artwork shown on this site is an original. These are not prints but are hand-created unique works. I sell my work through some excellent galleries which can be found on the Links page of this site and I am always especially pleased to hear from past customers I've met at events such as Southport Flower Show, Lichfield Medieval Festival and the British Craft Trade Fair who commission additional pictures for a newly decorated surroundings or for a friend or relative's special occasion. I appreciate the trust placed in me when a general theme or colour scheme is suggested and try my best not only to meet deadlines but to ensure that they are 100% pleased with the finished work. I recently completed a commission for a retirement gift at short notice for a customer in Urmston who wrote... ...'thanks for doing the picture at such short notice. As usual it's up to the high standard we've come to accept. You've not let us down. It's lovely... If you wish to purchase or commission a picture please phone or email me. I will contact you and quote you for postage & packing. Thanks for taking a look On the Wild Side..... ......Sue Barker |
